All-Korean Affair in Taipei Shows Growing Force in Mixed Doubles

2015-07-19

With a field unusually strong for a G.P. Gold event, where we see only two teams from the top 10 missing in the 2015 Chinese Taipei Open mixed doubles draw, few would expect an all-Korean final showdown as it was.

Ko Sung Hyun, Shin Baek Choel
Shin/Chae and Kim/Ko

World No.10 of Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na claimed their first title of the year while it was all the more significant for Shin Baek Choel and former junior doubles champion, 20-year-old Chae Yoo Jung, as the young VICTOR combination had ground through the qualifying rounds to come this far.

The win will boost 7000 ranking points for Ko/Kim and 5950 points for Shin/Chae in the race to the 2016 Olympics, close to the points for the semifinalists (6420) in a Superseries event.
