The racket is the only piece of equipment that actually has contact with the shuttlecock when a shot is made and has a direct influence on its trajectory, speed and landing point.

Consequently, every part of the structure of a racket has a deep influence of return shot quality and results, and racket design is also heavily affects the development of technique and playing.

A racket is made up of the following parts: frame,string,throat,shaft,cap, grip and end cap.

Frame

Also called the head, it is made by cutting woven carbon fiber fabric and carrying out other steps, then placing the fabric in a mold and forming the frame by heating; in recent years there has been a fashion for fine frames to reduce wind resistance and increase racket swing speed.

Head frames have three shapes:the traditional oval shape that many are familiar with and the small isometric and medium isometric shapes that have appeared more recently.

The difference between the three shapes is in strike feel feedback and the shape and size of the sweet spot, with, generally speaking the sweet spot of isometric frame rackets is larger than that of oval frame rackets.

Throat

Also called the T-head, this is where the frame and shaft meet, and can be separated into externally attached and carbon fiber covered types.

The attached type is usually used to join frames and shafts of different material, such as an aluminum frame and a carbon fiber shaft.

In recent years, manufacturing technology and materials science advances have led to the birth of carbon fiber covered throats and they have become the mainstream.

Carbon fiber covered throats take time and effort to make but they are lighter and stronger than the externally attached type.
